Pizza Problem

 

In this DLO I had to work out a strategy and figure out the problem to this.  I have written the question, the clue and my strategy or my way of solving the problem.  This helped us with our fractions, multiplication and division. This was a tricky problem to solve but I successfully figured it out.

E-ako math

Today my main focus for eako was Place Value.  I had fun learning my place values on eako maths. Eako maths is fun to use. I really enjoyed it.

Today for maths the stars [my maths group] played a game called fruit splat. This game is about the greatest number and the lest greatest numbers. For example one 2 and 4- the GCF [ greatest common factor} will be 2. I really like playing this maths game and I can see myself playing this game in the future.

Today we had math with Ms Kirkpatrick. We played a game called ordering decimals. This game is an interactive game that can help you learn your decimals it really help me ordering the decimals. I really liked this game because it will help me learn my decimals in the future and you should check the game out yourself and play along.

Math

Today, in class during maths time, Mrs. Naicker's group were working on problem solving. Our Learning intention was to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of decimals. To warm us up we practised our basic facts with a mix of division, multiplication, subtraction and addition. Many people in our group scored 30/30. Our group also played hit the button, we had a competition about who could get the most division questions right. After that we were sent to complete our problem solving. These are mainly about subtracting and adding decimals. I have become more confident and faster with working with decimals.

Math

Today for maths we were learning how to recognize decimals and how to order decimals. We were recognizing decimals by using fractions to help us. ( e.g : 0.5 would be 5/10 in a fraction ) We practiced ordering decimals on a online worksheet which we had to read the question and solve it out in our maths book. I was also learning the places for the decimals. I really liked learning about decimals because I was learning something new and it links to fractions which could also help me with fractions.

Halving & Doubling D.L.O.

Today in maths I have been learning about halving and doubling. See these questions made it even harder, but then when my teacher got to explain it, it became easier to solve. I have created a D.L.O. explaining how to solve these 2 simple equations.

Sub work

 This is some work that Sajiha, Thomas, Mya and I did on the prefix sub. Prefixes go on the front of words and have different meanings. Sub means under or below, and I did some work before on the preifx un, which meant not. For the word wall we wrote as many sub words that would make sense if you substituted the sub for under and for the paragraph we had to write a nonsense paragraph using nine sub words.

Using 5 timetables

Here is my DLO about using our 5 times tables. It tells you what I did to solve the equation. I did 2 strategy's and our learning Intention. Our Learning Intention is To answer our 6,7, and 8 times tables by using our 5 times tables.
